The device includes an, especially as a photo-multiplier formed, light detector (12) with an input surface area (36) which is hit by a measuring light leaving a test vessel (22) from a measuring aperture arranged at its top. The measuring light is redirected onto the input surface area of the detector by a reflector (16) covering the measuring aperture (26) in a predetermined distance. The input surface area of the light detector is arranged in an angle above the test vessel, vertically to its measuring aperture.
