<p>A method of manufacturing a skin-carrying in-mold expanded molded body used for, for example, an interior material for automobiles; the molded body; and a mold used for manufacturing the same are provided. (1) A folded portion folded back on the back of an in-mold expanded molded body, and fused to the back of the molded body is rarely separated. (2) Even when an insert material is fixed, it is not a troublesome work. (3) The expansion molding and the thermoforming of the skin material can be done efficiently. (4) The surface characteristics of the skin material and the expansion of the same material during the thermoforming thereof can be rendered excellent. (5) The thermal efficiency of the mold in which a skin material is placed during the preheating operation is high. The method of manufacturing a skin-carrying in-mold expanded molded body, the molded body, and the mold used for the same method have the above characteristics. When a skin material (3) is thermoformed in a so-called simultaneous integral molding, the outer circumferential portion of the skin material (3) is folded inward along a folding mold (6) so disposed as to project inward from the edge (2b) of an opening of a cavity surface (2a), and a folded portion (7) is formed. The folding mold (6) is then removed, and one surface (7a) of the folded portion (7) is fused to the back (5b) of an in-mold expanded molded body during the foaming operation (5). A folded-back portion (8) in which the outer circumferential portion of the skin material (3) is folded back outward from an end (7c) of the folded portion (7) is so pressed that the folded-back portion (8) is superposed on the other surface (7b) of the folded portion (7). The portion of either one of the molds (9, 10) which constitutes at least a surface (2a, 4a) exposed to the interior (4) of a mold (4) is provided thereon with a heater (62) capable of maintaining the exposed surface (2a, 4a) at a predetermined temperature.</p> |
