Flushing equipment for extracorporeal blood-treatment circuit

The circuit has an arterial hose system leading from the patient to the blood-treatment unit and containing a blood-pump. A venous hose system leads back to the patient from the unit and contains a drop chamber or pipe junction. A flushing-solution bag is connected by a first pipe with low flow-resistance to the arterial hose system upstream of the pump, and the pipe can be shut off by a clamp or valve. A second pipe with high flow resistance connects the bag to a substitute source, and can be of the capillary type (364). Alternatively, it can comprise a section of low flow-resistance in series with one of high resistance, the latter typically consisting of a sterile filter. Flow resistance can be adjustable by a clamp, and the bag can be enclosed between two plates, the distance between which is adjustable.
