The device has a pair of belt pulleys (50,51), each with a stationary drive pulley (52,53), supported by a housing (7). A moveable drive pulley (55,56) is axially moveable relative to the stationary pulley and turnable with it, and has a hydraulic actuator unit (70) for an axial movement of the moveable pulley. A belt (57) passes over the belt pulleys. At least one stationary pulley is turnably supported on the housing via a bearing (61). A fixing unit (90), e.g. a screwed nut, locates the bearing in an axial position relative to the stationary pulley. At least one part of the unit is located axially inside the bearing.
