The invention relates to an identification device comprising a unit (6-9; 20; 25, 26) for detecting biometric characteristics and a unit (10, 11; 15, 17, 18; 26) for detecting the vital signs of a living person. The detected biometric characteristics are compared with the stored person-specific characteristics only when the device has recognized that the person wishing to gain access to an object is in fact alive. A release signal is generated if the two sets of characteristics match. |
