A DNA encoding a polypeptide comprising the whole amino acid sequence described in SEQ. ID NO: 17 of the Sequence Listing or a part of the same or a polypeptide containing the above polypeptide which has a receptor activity capable of binding to mouse PBSF/SDF-1; a polypeptide encoded by this DNA and having a receptor activity capable of binding to mouse PBSF/SDF-1; cells expressing this polypeptide and human CD4 protein; and a method for screening an AIDS onset inhibitor, an HIV-1 infection inhibitor, etc. which comprises using the above-mentioned cells. Thus the invention provides a novel mouse CXC chemokine receptor gene which is useful in studies on a remedy for AIDS or the mode of action in the infection with HIV-1, a method for screening an HIV-1 infection inhibitor, etc.
