<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve transmission efficiency by converting a confirmation frame to be transmitted from an N port to an opposite N port into an ATM cell before the data frame of the transfer waiting to the opposite N port, trans mitting the ATM cell to an ATM network and transmitting the confirmation frame to the N port. SOLUTION: A confirmation frame is stored in a memory 26 of confirmation frame and the frames other than it are stored in a memory 25 of data frame. A switch 27 is connected to the side of the memory 25 of data frame when the frame is other than the confirmation frame. When the confirmation frame is written in the memory 26 for confirmation frame, the switch 27 is switched and the confirmation frame is immediately passed to an FC frame transmitter 28. As a result, in the FC frame transmitter 28, a 1-byte code is converted into a 10-bit code, an electric/optic conversion is performed, the frame processing part of the FC-0 (physical layer) of an FC layer and all of the FC 1 (code layers) and an FC-2 (protocol layer) is realized by the FC frame transmitter 28 and an FC frame receiver 11.</p> |
