A self-lubricating bearing assembly for pivotally mounting two members e.g. parts of a shovel loader together comprises a tubular pin having a cylindrical, unobstructed lubricant chamber of uniform cross-section, bearing means mounted on the pin and adapted to pivotally mount one member on the pin, two sleeves slidably mounted on the pin coaxial with and separated by the bearing means and adapted to be mounted in mating bores in the other member, and passage means formed in the assembly, connecting the chamber with the bearing means and including a passage in each sleeve for communicating lubricant to the ends of the bearing means. In a bucket loader a lift arm 12 is pivoted to frame member 11 by a bearing assembly including a pin 20 which has chamber 42 from which lubricant passes to bearings 23 via passages 37, 36 in sleeves 21, 22 respectively. Seals 24 prevent the escape of lubricant. Cover plates 26, 28, bolted to pin 20, seal chamber 42. Plate 26 may be bolted to member 11, and plate 28 to sleeve 21. Abutting flats on plates 28, 29 prevent pin 20 rotating relative to member 11. Filler plug 32, attached to member 12, may be attached to one of the sleeves. Air vent plug 43, attached to plate 28, may be attached to one of the sleeves or to member 12. The bearing assembly may also be used to pivotally mount the loaders left and tilt jacks. |
