<p>A method for identifying a compound which selectively inhibits a human nitric oxide synthase (NOS) comprises: (a) determining the inhibition of the activity of the NOS in the presence of a candidate compound and a first concentration of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4); (b) determining the inhibition of the activity of the NOS in the presence of the candidate compound and a second concentration of the BH4; (c) determining whether the candidate compound inhibits the activity of the NOS to a different extent in (a) than in (b).</p> |
