The security enhancing process is applied to variable graphic elements such as letter and number codes, pictures and bar-codes, currency notes and security documents. The edges or surfaces of the variable graphic elements (1) are provided with structures. The characteristic measurements of the structures are so small that these structures cannot be reproduced by low-resolution processes, and have little effect on the appearance of the graphic elements. The structured variable graphic elements may be illuminated in a light-sensitive layer.
