<p>A lid-actuating apparatus (10) for actuating a lid (92) of a container (80), such as a refuse bin, between an open state and a closed state. The apparatus (10) comprises an actuating member (14) for coupling to the container lid (92) and a pivoting member (16) having one end (22) pivotably connected to the actuating member (14) and the other end (32) connected to a pedal member (18). The pivoting member (16) is pivotably coupled, in use, to an external surface (86) of the container (80) and the actuating member (14) is coupled, in use, to an external surface of the lid (92). The lid actuating apparatus (10) is detachably mountable on the external surface of a conventional container and is suitable for use with containers of varying shapes and sizes. <IMAGE></p> |
