Method and apparatus for introducing a strand of material in a mould

A process deposits a strand of material into one half of an opened, two-part mould. The cross section of the strand (26) and/or its position relative to the die (16) is varied as necessary, with due regard to the contours of the moulding to be produced. Also claimed is a device for the claimed process. Its plasticiser has an opening for the strand at one end which travels along and across the mould, varying deposition as described. Preferably, the cross section, especially the cross sectional area and/or the relative position of the strand (26) are continuously varied. The relative positions are varied by moving at least part of the plasticiser lengthwise, especially along the long central axis (27) of the mould. The strand cross section and especially its cross sectional area are varied by altering the outlet opening (25). The speed of exudation and the speed of motion relative to the mould may also be varied.
