PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING CARD-SHAPED DATA CARRIERS

A process and device are disclosed for producing card-shaped data carriers. The process has at least one step which requires a data carrier of a defined type, quality or position, and/or which alters the data carrier in an irreversible manner or in a manner which can only be reversed with an additional effort. The data carrier is optically inspected before or after this production step and its subsequent treatment depends on the inspection results.
