INLET CONVEYOR FOR TIRE TESTING SYSTEMS

An inlet conveyor for conveying tires (20) through a tire uniformity testing system includes a tire centering mechanism (300) and a pair of conveyor belts (202) for delivering tires (20) to a tire testing station (12). A fixed conveyor having rollers on which tires (20) can easily slide is secured to a frame that supports the centering mechanism (300). The conveyor belts (202) are reeved around respective pulleys (220) and are supported by support rails (210) fixed to and extending away from the centering mechanism (300) in cantilever fashion. A conveyor elevator is raised or lowered with respect to the frame unit to raise or lower the support rails (210) and conveyor belts (202) to either engage or disengage a tire (20) resting on the fixed conveyor.
