PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discharge ash well from a filter by providing exhaust gas flow suppressing means in an exhaust upstream side part from the particulate collection filter of an engine exhaust passage and suppressing the flowing of exhaust gas to a part of the exhaust upstream side end surface of the filter. SOLUTION: When ash is peeled from a filter 1, for example at the time of starting, a valve member 11 is placed in a left position to prevent the flowing of exhaust gas to the left half of the filter 1. At this time, since the valve member 11 is separated from the exhaust upstream side end surface 1a of the filter l, a space is formed between the left half of the exhaust upstream side end surface 1a of the filter 1 and the valve member 11. Since the filter 11 is disposed incliningly with the exhaust upstream side as a lower side, ash is dropped by gravity from the filter 1. The left half of the filter 1, to which the flowing of exhaust gas is prevented, receives no force of a direction opposite gravity by exhaust gas for ash and thus even extremely small ash is discharged well.
|
