PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the blurring of an image caused by the vibration of a carrying means when a document is read by controlling the driving of the carrying means according to the carrying speed/carrying mode of the document. SOLUTION: Such an action that the document is carried to a platen and read at the same time is the running read action. Then, a wide belt used at this time is driven by a belt motor 102. By the motor 102, the document placed on a document tray 4 is carried to the platen. When the reading speed of the document is low (<=200mm/s), the vibration when the document is read is minimized by using a microstep 2W1-2-phase exciting system. When the reading sped of the document is gradually increased, the exciting system is switched to a microstep W1-2-phase exciting system and a microstep 1-2-phase exciting system. |
