PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain anα-olefin polymn. catalyst which enables anα-olefin polymer with a very high stereoregularity to be produced in a high yield and to provide anα-olefin polymn. method using the same. SOLUTION: Thisα-olefin polymn. method uses a catalyst which comprises a solid catalyst component forα-olefin polymn. (A) essentially comprising titanium, magnesium, a halogen, and an electron donor, an organoaluminum compd. component (B), a silicon compd. (C) represented by the formula: R<1> R<2> 3-m Si(OR<3> )m (wherein R<1> is an aliph. hydrocarbon group of which theα-carbon atom adjacent to the silicon atom is tertiary; R<2> is a hydrocarbon group being the same as or different from R<1> or is a heteroatom-contg. hydrocarbon group; R<3> is a hydrocarbon group; and 1<=m<=3), and a silicon compd. (D) represented by the formula: R<4> 2 Si(OR<5> )2 (wherein R<4> is an aliph. hydrocarbon group of which theα-carbon atom adjacent to the silicon atoms is secondary; and R<5> is a hydrocarbon group).
