PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce traffic jam near a tollgate by showing an optimum gate for the driver of automobile and showing the order of time required for passing. SOLUTION: Near the tollgate, an arriving vehicle sensor 11 is arranged in front of a tollgate 7 and a passing vehicle sensor 12 is arranged at a gate exit respectively. Both the arriving vehicle sensor 11 and the passing vehicle sensor 12 are composed of optical counters and radio counters. Then, a gate approach guide panel is provided for displaying the condition of congestion and reporting it to the driver of automobile 5. The number of automobiles 5 waiting in front of this tollgate 7 is counted while distinguishing automatically toll received vehicles and automatically toll non-received vehicles and by finding the sum of product with predicted service time, predictive wait time is calculated. Further, the degree of wait time predicted for each gate is reported through the guide panel or on-vehicle equipment to the driver of automobile 5. Therefore, the driver of automobile 5 approaches to the gate with less congestion. |
