<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of an adsorption plant and the cost of operation by using faujasite having a specified ratio of Si to Al as an adsorbent and specifying the exchange capacity of tetrahedral Al and Li and Ca cations in the crystal lattice and the ratio of Li to Li+Ca. SOLUTION: In a PSA method for producing pure hydrogen from a gaseous mixture contg. CO and/or nitrogen other than hydrogen, faujasite in which the ratio of Si to Al is 1-3 is used as an adsorbent. At least 85% of Al tetrahedrons in the crystal lattice of the faujasite have been combined with Li and Ca cations and the ratio of Li to Li+Ca is at least 70%. The remaining exchange capacity is <15% and is occupied by alkali metallic ions other than Li ions or alkaline earth metallic ions other than Ca ions. LSX type faujasite in which the ratio of Si to Al is 1 has especially superior performance.</p> |
