MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the adhesion of foreign matter on a magnetic head and to remove the foreign matter adhered to the magnetic head. SOLUTION: An intermediate layer and a magnetic layer are formed on a nonmagnetic base. In this case, a soln. prepd. by adding 0.1 to 1.0% chelating agent to a solvent is applied on the surface of the magnetic layer. The chelating agent is added at 1.0×10<3> to 1.0×10<5> g/m<3> to the coating material for the intermediate layer at the time of forming the intermediate layer, by which the added chelating agent is oozed through the holes of the magnetic layer. The existence amt. of the chelating agent existing on the surface of the magnetic material is specified to 1.0 to 100mg/m<2> .
