PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compact high-performance and high-function range-finding device by deciding a subject distance based on either output from a passive type focus detecting means or output from a 3rd photosensor. SOLUTION: This range-finding device is equipped with two light receiving lenses 1a and 1b and constitutes what is called an external light passive autofocusing module 11 where received luminance distribution information of the subject 6 is received by sensor arrays 2a and 2b for passive autofocusing so as to obtain the distance to the subject 6 based on the deviation. The 3rd photosensor 2c set at the middle position of a semiconductor chip 2 equipped with two sensor arrays 2a and 2b is used to perform what is called active autofocusing where the subject distance is obtained by receiving the component reflected from the subject 6 out of signal light projected from a camera side. Thus, the subject distance is decided based on either output from the passive type focus detection means or output from the 3rd photosensor 3c. |
