PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a developer-isolating member stably ensuring satisfactory developer-isolating performance and excellent also in durability such as wear resistance by vulcanizing and joining a combined body consisting of a rubber elastic body and a hard substrate through a binder. SOLUTION: A combined body consisting of a rubber elastic body 1 and a hard substrate 2 is vulcanized and joined through a binder to obtain the objective developer-isolating member. The rubber elastic body 1 is required only to have a glass transition temp. below ordinary temp., e.g. in the range of -100 to 0 deg.C and it is made preferably of silicone rubber, fluororubber, urethane rubber or a mixture of them. The hard substrate 2 may be made of any material hard to gather rust which adversely affects a toner, a carrier, etc. The binder is a material bonding tightly to the hard substrate 2 and reacting chemically with a vulcanizing agent, a vulcanization accelerator and the functional groups of a polymer forming the rubber elastic body 1 and it is selected in accordance with the kind of the rubber elastic body 1. |
