PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical disk which is free from unequal coercive force in a circumferential direction and allows normal overwriting. SOLUTION: This disk 1 is constituted by successively laminating a memory layer 4, a recording assistance layer 5, a control layer 6 consisting of the following magnetic material and having the following Curie temp. Tc, the coercive force Hc and >=100Åfilm thickness and an initialization layer on a transparent substrate 2: The magnetic material is GdaDybFecCod (where a+b+c+d=1), 0.15<a+b<0.30, 0.05<=d<=0.15. The Curie temp. Tc is specified to 120 deg.C<=Tc<=180 deg.C and the coercive force Hc to 2KZOe<=Hc<=10KOe.
