<p>The plates are coupled by dogs to driving chains, each plate having at one end mountings for trunnions on the dogs, together with a part-cylindrical surface supporting the end of an adjacent plate. The other end of the plate has guides pivoting on the dog trunnions of the adjacent plate. If the pitch of the driving chain (17) increases due to wear, the guides (6,8,9) counteract any consequent tendency to gap-formation between the adjacent plate ends. The supporting faces at the plate end can be at least partly formed by the periphery of a pipe (5). The guides can be formed by ribs with slots enclosing the dog trunnions. The slots extend in a plane inclined to the plate and which contains a curve (11) counteracting gap-formation.</p> |
