PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for improving the dispersiblity and adhesion of silica in elastomer composition and for thereby improving the abrasion resistance and strengths of the composition. SOLUTION: This composition comprises about 1 to about 40wt.% silica and an elastomer matrix containing about 0.1 to about 20wt.% additive selected among block copolymers each composed of at least one block A derived from a rosin or fatty acid monoester of glycerol, rosin and fatty acids and a block B having a number-average molecular weight of about 200 to about 2,500Da and derived from the group consisting of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and polyepichlorohydrin (PECH). The additive has the function of substantially improving the dispersibility and adhesion of silica in the elastomer matrix. This improvement substantially improves the strengths and other properties of the material. |
