The system includes green and infrared light-emitting diodes (31) in a housing at the end of a flexible rod fixed to the microphone boom. The housing contains also a microswitch (35) operated by a lever (36-1) and clocking a bistable circuit which drives the switching transistors (41,42) via a three-position selector (39). The switching requires little effort (e.g. 10 to 60 grammes) from the lower lip or tongue for the clocking of the D flip-flop (40). The selector is housed in a separate package at the other end of the boom.
