<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and normally execute printing in the case of printing out data in each band unit and to properly print out a mixed picture attaching great importance to gradation and resolution. SOLUTION: Page description language(PDL) printing data received by a host computer 1 are converted into an intermediate code (display list), which is temporarily stored in a memory 3. When the display list attaches great importance to gradation, the list is developed in a band buffer 6 and the developed image is compressed by a JPEG compression part 8 and stored in a memory 9. Image data extended by a JPEG extension part 10 as necessity are developed again in a band buffer 7 and can be added to PDL data received later. An image developed in the buffer 7 based on a display list attaching great importance to resolution is also compressed by resolution importance type compression processing and stored in a memory 12. When the compressed images of respective band units for one page are stored in the memory, these images are synthesized by a synthesis part 14 and outputted to a printer engine part 16.</p> |
