PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the life of a photoreceptor and to improve the sensitivity of the charged photoreceptor. SOLUTION: An organic photoreceptor provided with a photoreceptive layer on which a charge generating layer and a charge transfer layer are laminated is prepared and the surface of the organic photoreceptor is uniformly electrified at a potential by electrification being 1/2-1/5 of the saturation potential by electrification VO- MAX of the organic photoreceptor, to form an image by an electrophotographic process. The potential by the electrification is low so that when the organic photoreceptor having a thin photoreceptive layer is electrified, the photoreceptive layer is hardly damaged even by repeated electrification and the life of the organic photoreceptor is prolonged. On the other hand, when the organic photoreceptor having the thin photoreceptive layer is used, a charge voltage is low so that a generated charge amount is not excessive to suppress reduction in the sensitivity of the charged photoreceptor. Further, when the thickness ratio of the charge transfer layer to the charge generating layer is set high, the fact is advantageous to the improvement of the sensitivity of the charged photoreceptor. |
