PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the transporting efficiency of the ultraviolet rays to be generated in plasma so as to improve the light emitting efficiency of a PDP by mixing a gas, which includes a halogen element to the gas for generating plasma, or mixing a rare gas to the gas, which includes a halogen element. SOLUTION: Energy to be generated at the time of de-exciting an excimer 1 such as ArF is emitted in the form of ultraviolet rays, but since most of the wavelengths thereof is longer than the wavelength of the ultraviolet rays, which is emitted from Xe used for exciting a phosphor in a PDP, it is advantageous for the infiltration into the phosphor. Phosphor under a surface can be thereby efficiently excited, and visible light can be generated as much as possible. Practically, the excimer 1 is generated in the plasma by using a gas, which includes an atom forming the excimer, for example, one kind of the gas, which includes a rare gas such as Ar and halogen atom such as F, or their mixture gas as the discharging gas. |
