<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the encoding efficiency and to compress the images via a proper encoding method by detecting the redundancy of the input image data and selecting the encoding method based on the detected redundancy. SOLUTION: An image data input part 11 inputs the image data via an image data supply device 50. A redundancy detection part 12 detects the relative redundancy of the image data inputted from the part 11, and the detected redundancy is stored in a redundancy storage part 13. A redundancy read control part 16 gives a read instruction to the part 13, when the time code inputted via a time code input part 15 is set at the prescribed value. The part 13 reads out the redundancy, based on the received read instruction and transfers it to an encoding method selection designating part 14. The part 14 selects a proper encoding method based on the redundancy received from the part 13 and instructs the selected encoding method to an image-compressing device 100.</p> |
