The method involves activating a remote locking and unlocking unit (11) for the car doors, by activating a command mechanism (13) contained in the remote control unit (11). The unit is arranged on a support (12) which is appropriately located in the vehicle interior. The unit authorises door opening and closing after carrying out a code search, remotely. In order to start the car engine, the remote control unit must be place in the support attached to the car, and an appropriate signal code must be sent to a computer unit.
