Conventional passive responder labels for retail goods consist of two or more inductive spirals separated by a dielectric film. When such labels are exposed to high electrostatic fields, the low impedance conductors and dielectric can be damaged by induced currents. Such electrostatic fields can be generated by photocopiers and laser printers. The present label has a galvanic connection between the two spirals. The connection is made at the electrical symmetry point. Thus, no dielectric breakdown can occur when the label is exposed to a high voltage electrostatic field. The connection does not affect the resonant characteristics of the circuit.
