PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily convert the composite image signals used for display of a composite image on a PDP(plasma display panel) into the NTSC(national television system committe) signals. SOLUTION: This image composting device is provided with an image composting processing circuit 16B which composites the input picture signals A and B, and a PDP which displays a composite image. In such a constitution, the circuit 16B sets the sum of horizontal effective image sampling numbers of both signals A and B to the horizontal effective image sampling number '852' of the PDP. At the same time, the horizontal sampling number of the composite image signal is set to '1024', that is about (1/0.83) times as much as the number '852' of the PDP and is accordingly compatible with the NTSC standard. Thereby, the NTSC signals can be easily encoded, and the composite image can be displayed by the PDP. Furthermore, the composite image signals outputted from the circuit 16B can be converted into NTSC signals by an NTSC encoder 34 and then recorded and displayed by a general-purpose VTR(video tape recorder) and a TV receiver. |
