The facsimile copying system includes transmission by a transmission support in the form of primary information symbols (654) between a transmitter unit and a receiver unit. It includes use of a selection device determining the operating mode selected from one of two operating modes. The first of these modes is called the 'simplex' mode in which the transmitter transmits successively all the primary information symbols for transmission, independently of reception of these by the receiver. The second mode is called the 'duplex' mode, in which the transmitter transmits the primary information symbols for transmission in a number of sequences, and waits between certain of these sequences in order to determine that the receiver has received the predetermined symbols. |
