DUPLICATION SYSTEM FOR UPDATING SYSTEM DATA BASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten processing time in a business world such as a financial institution for handling enormous data volume by preparing a data base(DB) for extracting only data in an extraction range specified for an updating system DB even when the updating system DB is being used in an on-line system. SOLUTION: The contents of respective blocks of an updating system DB are successively and logically copied in accordance with the specification of the extraction range to prepare a copied DB. Synchronously with the copying processing, processing is simultaneously started, the updated data of the updating system DB based on a transaction after the start of processing are acquired as a journal and journal data acquired after the copying of each block are selected from the acquired journal data. The contents of the selected journal are reflected (updating processing) to the contents of the prepared copy DB and the contents of the copied DB are matched with the contents of the original, updating system DB to prepare a copied DB within an extraction range.
