PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter controlling method to be used for connecting a power converter to a power system. SOLUTION: In the case of connecting a self-exciting reactive power compensating device 30 to be a power converter to a power system 2 by turning on a linking braker 5, a control circuit 31 in the device 30 executes voltage control for the output of the device 30 before turning on the braker 5, and when the braker 5 is turned on, its contact is closed and a current allowed to flow into the device 30 exceeds a prescribed value, switches the voltage control to current control for the output of the device 30. |
