PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform accurate focus detection by utilizing projected luminous flux in the wide range of a photographing lens. SOLUTION: This detector is provided with a light deflecting member 15 deflecting the projected luminous flux from a photographing optical system 30 in a direction perpendicular to a direction where a pair of entrance pupils of a focus detection optical system is arranged on or near the planned image- formation surface 31 of the optical system 30. Thus, the entrance pupils of the focus detection optical system are widened in a direction perpendicular to a focus detecting direction, and the wider range of the projected luminous flux from the photographing optical system is used for focus detection so as to improve focus detecting accuracy. |
