PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing the electrophotographic toner capable of reducing an amount of a surfactant remaining on toner particles with a small amount of rinsing water and the electrophotographic tone small in particle diameter and narrow in its distribution and excellent in potential acceptance and developability and image transferability. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic toner is manufactured by mixing a medium with resin particles dispersed into it and another medium with a colorant dispersed into it and coagulating the resin particles together with the colorant and heat treating and coalescing them and recovering the toner from the media, and at that time, adding a dispersing agent in an amount of 10-70 weight % of the toner and stirring at high speed and filtering the toner from the dispersing agent remaining on the surfaces of the toner particles to remove it.
