The cordless telephone includes a receiver which is combined with a programmable remote controller. The keys are assigned for use as telephone keys and for use as remote controller keys. Preferably, the board of the programmable remote controller is connectable directly to the accumulator of the telephone receiver so that the batteries of the remote controller do not require to be changed. The volume of an electrical equipment, such as a television set, can be turned down when someone calls.
