The two layers have different degrees of elasticity, the cover tearing open along one or more lines when the air-bag unfolds. At the line, the covering layer (13) is weakened by a groove, into which the supporting one (14) protrudes. Adjacent to the protruding portion (11A) of the supporting layer extending into the groove, the covering layer has a portion (13A) protruding into the supporting layer. The edge (15) between the protruding portions forms the tear line. At this edge, the supporting layer can be thinner than elsewhere with the covering layer protruding into it, typically containing a slit bridged by thin ribs with a maximum width of 0.8 mm. and at intervals of at least 10 m.
