1,147,615. Purifying water. DIAMOND ALKALI CO. 27 April, 1966 [29 April, 1965], No. 18510/66. Heading C1C. A method for the adsorptive purification of a liquid, e.g. sugar solution, comprises agitating the liquid in contact with at least two adsorbents either simultaneously or sequentially, the adsorbents having an average particle size less than 200Á, e.g. 1-120Á, and being selected from activated carbon, cross-linked insoluble synthetic adsorbent resins containing polar groups consisting of amine, quaternary ammonium, sulphonium, sulphonic acid, carboxylic acid, hydroxyl or nitro groups, kaolin, calcium phosphate gel, magnesium silicate, and amine modified clays. The contact time may be 15-60 minutes and the contact temperature 50- 80‹ C. |
