A communication equipment to be carried on a car and an interroad communication equipment which are simple-structured and allow information communication without a leakage of information. Between an on-the-road machine (10) having a memory (28) storing an electronic key (A) and a vehicle-carried machine (30) having a memory circuit (48), communication is made with coding information included. In the vehicle-carried machine (30), coded information about route, etc., is stored in the coded state. Coding and decoding are performed by the on-the-road machine (10). About charging, coded information about charging is transmitted from an IC card (62) having a memory (70) to the on-the-road machine (10) through the vehicle-carried machine (30). Then, the coded information about charging from the IC card (62) is decoded by the on-the-road machine (10). By this method, information is transmitted in the coded state, however, there is no necessity of coding or decoding in the vehicle-carried machine (30) and thereby the safety of the system can be increased.
