The cycle frame comprises four support elements (3-6) movably connected together at an intersecting point (18) by one or more parallel folding axles (2) lying in a plane perpendicular to the cycle plane. During cycling the support elements are tensioned by two tension elements and the steering column (1) to produce statically loadable X-shaped framework. The support elements and steering column are connected by joints which allow a steering movement and folding movement of support elements. After releasing a security lever one of the two support elements can be folded over the joint (21) so that all the frame elements can be collapsed. The support elements can transfer compression and tensile forces to the intersecting point. The back wheel support element (6) can transfer forces but is also bending and torsion resistant so is made stronger than the other support elements.
