A suture sleeve (10) for anchoring an implanted catheter or lead to a patient's vein or underlying tissue, having a longitudinal sleeve throughbore (14) for receiving the lead body extending through a sleeve body (12) and a locking member (22) manually actuable between a locked and an unlocked position, and movable laterally (in a locking direction) in a transverse channel extending laterally across the sleeve body with respect to the sleeve throughbore, to a locked position by applying a uniform pressure around the lead body. The locked position is maintained by engagement of mating fixed locking detents (63, 65, 67, 69) on the sleeve body and movable locking detents (70, 72, 74, 76) on the movable locking member. The locking member (22) is unlocked by applying release force, preferably through the jaws of a forceps, against fixed rails (47, 49) on one side of the sleeve body transverse channel and against movable rails on the side of the locking member.
