An anchoring device (1) for a telegraph pole or similar is designed as an elongated unit (2, 3). At one end (4) the unit has a part (4a) that is subjected to downward driving force in order to make possible the downward driving of the unit into the ground during a first stage of the anchoring process. The device (1) has a number of elongated elements or arms (10, 11, 12, 13) each of which during the first stage of the anchoring process occupies a position principally inside the unit. The elongated elements are designed so that by means of a force (F) applied via the above mentioned part (4a) they are pushed out completely or partially from the unit in directions (20, 21, 22, 23) that are different to the direction of the longitudinal axis (8) of the unit, all with the aim of increasing the anchoring capability by means of interaction between the arms and the ground.
