<p>The safety device consists of a hook which maintains the connection between the bonnet and fixed counterpart until the hook is swung clear. With the bonnet locked down, the lowered handle is transferred to an accessible service setting by the enforced forward movement of the bonnet during release, a control edge positively joined to the handle rides along the fixed counterpart in the hook-opening sense.
