Air-conditioning plant e.g. for vehicle passenger compartment with compressor

The air conditioning plant uses a liquid refrigerant which is harmful for humans. The plant has a housing (1) with an air passage, forming a compartment subjected to air conditioning. A heat exchanger in the form of an evaporator (8) is arranged in a refrigerant passage, through which the refrigerant is led. The evaporator is arranged so that a heat exchange occurs between the refrigerant and the air flow in the air passage. A compressor (25, Fig. 2) at or in the refrigerant passage compresses the refrigerant. A first valve unit closes the refrigerant passage at a point upstream from the inlet of the refrigerant to the evaporator during a standstill of the compressor. A second valve unit closes the refrigerant passage at a point downstream of the outlet of the evaporator during a standstill of the compressor. A pressure determining unit determines the pressure of the refrigerant at a point between the first and second valve units.
