The invention relates to a pouch bag consisting of an exterior flat or gusseted bag, made of paper or other weblike material, single or multiwall, sewn or pasted end, with a mechanically inserted, flat tube, liner or pouch, which is longer than the exterior or outer bag. Said longer flat tube, made of plastic or other weblike material, is located within the shorter outer bag and incorporates a double-folded-member stretching accross the face width of said tube. The double-folded-member is fashioned with a novel apparatus, during the bag tubing operation. Said double-folded-member rests inside the outer tube, during closure of the bottom end of said tube. After the bag bottom closure, the finished bags are palletized and shipped to the eventual filling station, where the double-folded-member is pulled out of the outer bag, prior to the filling and closing operation. Alternatively, the pouch bag can be cuffed at the factory, whereby the double-folded-member is pulled out of the outer bag and turned inside out and drawn over the top edge of said outer bag, thus fashioning the cuff. |
