The articulated power transmission shaft (1-8) incorporates two or more cruciform articulated hinge components. One of the cruciform components has an intermediate bearing in the immediate vicinity of the cruciform hinge. The two hollow sections of the articulated shaft are welded together in the immediate vicinity of the intermediate bearing. They are preferably permanently friction welded together.
