Separation of calcium carbonate from water, especially that used in power plants (8), comprises pressure reduction to which the water (4) is subjected, in the pipeline. Separated calcium carbonate resulting, forms a finely divided crystalline precipitate, which is entrained into the flow of water over the cross section of the pipe. Also claimed is the equipment producing the pressure drop, which may be in the form of a venturi (10).
